Update on biomass burners, 9 July 2010

Today GAINS received the following update from the Scottish Government regarding biomass burner proposals at Dundee, Leith, Rosyth and Grangemouth:

Forth Energy have not formally submitted any application yet, but we are expecting these imminently.  The four plants have all been through the Scottish Government Scoping process and the Dundee plant has also undergone the pre-application gate-checking process (the resulting documents will be published on our website in due course).  Forth Energy have advised that they intend to submit the Dundee Plant application within the next few weeks, followed by the Grangemouth application, then Rosyth and finishing with the Leith plant towards the beginning of October.

Public representations are a material consideration when determining a s36 application and we would encourage any individual or group with an interest to submit their comments.  These comments will all be logged individually, and hence our preferred method for these to be submitted would be to the site-specific email addresses we have set up:
