Subject: FW: Arecleoch incinerator proposals

Dear Mr Gallagher,

Last year we ran a competition to identify the preferred developer for a timber railhead facility at Arecleoch, which will be subject to a lease if the facility can be installed within a tight timescale. The rules of the competition also allowed for ancillary developments at the same site, but subject firstly to the installation of the rail facility and to "commercial rates" in the lease in respect to any non timber use (and of course to Planning Approval). Ashby Scott won the competition and have involved the local community in discussions about an energy from waste plant and an associated tomato growing enterprise to use the waste heat and carbon dioxide. We have specifically said we will not invest in any of these developments and I have no information on the specification of the proposed plant beyond the sketchy outline presentenced by Ashby Scott to the Barrhill Community Council.

Yours sincerely,

Rob Soutar
Forest District Manager

Re: Forestry Commission explains proposals

Mr Souter has been less than truthful in his reply.

In a letter to Ashby Scott Projects Ltd by Stan Corcoran, Stratigies Manager FCS, prior to ASP presentation at the Forest Enterprise Scotland District Office in Newton Stewart on 30 November 2009 at 14.00,  Mr Corcoran states " The panel was looking for the respondents to give more detail on the options for the rolling stock and service provision.  It was felt that all of the submission missed an opportunity to give a full response and give a full understanding of the service their partner was offering"

This is only one instance of deceit and untruths by the Forestry Commission Scotland.
