Peterhead residents can breath a partial sigh of relief with regard to proposals for a waste incinerator at Upperton Industrial Estate. The 90 day period for Buchan Combined Heat & Power to appeal against the Council's refusal of planning permission has gone. The company could submit another application but that particular bit of land has now been sold to Scottish Enterprise as part of the Energetica corridor. Local campaigner John Askey has, however, urged caution, saying: "Although Scottish Enterprise say they have no plans to allow an application for an incinerator I have no confidence that there will never be another application. We do need to keep badgering people like Mr Richard Lochhead as the only thing politicians really listen to is bad publicity, as evidence, logical argument and common sense do not seem to make a difference."
